Panel Process

FCA’s Emergency Grants panel meets monthly to review applications and respond to artists’ needs in a timely manner.

Panelists are established practicing artists from the disciplines we support. All are familiar with emerging work and contemporary practices.

When evaluating applications, the panelists consider the urgency of each request, the significance of the opportunity for the artist, the impact an Emergency Grant would have on the artist’s ability to carry out the project, and the strength of the proposed project based on the submitted work samples.

Notification and Payment

Artists will receive an automated email from Submittable confirming receipt of the application. FCA also sends panel decisions through Submittable following the monthly panel meetings.

Applicants should check their spam folder or other tabs to ensure they are receiving messages and updates about the application and its status.

FCA generally pays out grant funds a week after notification and sends the payments electronically, unless the artist requests a check.

Accessibility

If you have difficulty with any aspect of the application’s accessibility, please email grants@contemporary-arts.org for assistance.
